About the role

Juru is looking for a GIS Specialist to support the SBU in the development and implementation of E&S projects. The specialist will be responsible for managing the entire GIS environment of the project, supporting field teams with custom data collection tools, producing cartographic outputs, and maintaining up-to-date geospatial data systems for social, environmental and biodiversity studies.

Job responsibilities:

  • Maintain and administer the project GIS environment (ArcGIS Online or equivalent platform);
  • Create and manage field data collection forms (e.g., Survey123, Field Maps) for multiple disciplines including ecology, biodiversity, and social studies;
  • Produce clear, visually effective maps and spatial data visualizations for use in E&S reports and stakeholder engagement materials;
  • Update GIS databases and layers regularly based on field data, remote sensing inputs, and specialist contributions;
  • Consolidate spatial data from across technical teams into a unified GIS system with structured data logic;
  • Provide GIS support to biodiversity, environmental, and social experts and other specialists to ensure spatial data supports technical decisions;
  • Ensure all field forms and GIS products include built-in QA/QC controls and meet project standards;
  • Contribute to spatial analysis, habitat mapping, and visualization of mitigation zones or sensitive areas;
  • Constant mentoring new members of the team by providing workshops.

This position requires the candidate to be based in Tashkent. Regular presence in the office and field mobilization from Tashkent are expected.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • A degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field;
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience working with GIS in environmental, infrastructure, or E&S projects;
  • Strong command of ArcGIS Online and associated tools (Survey123, Field Maps, Web Maps, Dashboards);
  • Experience in habitat mapping, spatial planning, and data management in environmental contexts is an advantage;
  • Proficiency in English is required; Russian is an asset;
  • Familiarity with remote sensing, and spatial analysis techniques;
  • Ability to produce professional-grade maps and visualizations tailored to technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing spatial data and metadata;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
