Project features

The EBRD and ADB are considering financing the Government of Tajikistan for the reconstruction of a 49 km section of the 1000-km Dushanbe-Khorog-Kulma East-West corridor to enhance regional connectivity and transit potential. The Project will accomplish the (i) upgrade of the road section from Category III to Category I, (ii) enhancement of road safety standards, and (iii) construction of two electric vehicles (“EVs”) charging stations along the road section. The assignment involves a critical review of the IEE against EBRD ESP 2019 and updated EU EIA legislation, focusing on assessing social and environmental baseline data, land acquisition and resettlement frameworks, and stakeholder engagement practices. Juru was engaged by the ESIA consultant to identify gaps in biodiversity assessment, assess biodiversity risks to the project, and outline necessary actions to address these gaps.

Services provided

• Carry out gap analysis of the Initial Environmental Examination of the project against the PR6 of the EBRD ESP 2019;

• Prepare a gap analysis report with recommendations for the required further biodiversity surveys.
